All demo’s and work created by students are photographed in the photographic studio using Nikon photographic equipment and a hard copy is provided for use in your portfolio.
By working on our inclusive models you don't waste time working on other students which is why we are able to offer this level of intensivity and expertise in our courses, you will have a 30 minute lunch break and a light lunch is provided along with refreshments throughout the day.
The majority of our courses start at 09:30 promptly and end around 17:30 depending on the pace of the group, unlike other schools, we are happy to run over this to ensure the best results are achieved as would be required in industry. On the Advanced Fashion & Editorial Makeup Certificate and Foundation Certificate courses a location shoot in the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site is included, weather permitting.
By doing this our students leave our courses with the basis of a professional portfolio to industry standard allowing them to promote themselves and gain work. All materials, tools and products, props and accessories to replicate various scenarios required for your portfolio to complete the course are supplied for general use, during the practical sessions.
We use an extensive range of make-up products including, Barry M, Benefit, Beauty Republica Super Cover, Ben Nye, Estee Lauder, Fardel, Grimas, Kryolan, Mac, Max Factor, Mehron, Revlon, Rimmel, Screenface, Virgin Vie, and Wolfe Brothers to name a few. We can provide advise and guidance on the most suitable products to achieve the best result for the looks that you wish to achieve.
Classes have small numbers to ensure that you are receive one to one attention. Private schools are recognised for training people in skills relevant and necessary to meet industry demands. We give the best aftercare and support to all ex-students, we actively encourage our students to keep in touch by phone or email and we run two career workshops a year free of charge to all ex-students. You can attend both if you wish. The workshops run on a Saturday afternoon and you get the opportunity to sit with us and discuss your career development and receive advice, guidance and support from us on your career. These workshops will also keep you motivated and focused.
Each student leaves with the knowledge and skills needed to gain work, we offer job seeking guidance as an essential part of the training and support. On completion you will receive a Certificate stating which course you have attended and the components covered.
On certain courses students are assessed on their course work, to be produced in your own time and the results of their practical work and the quality of their portfolios. Students are offered the opportunity to take a test at the end of each course, to reinforce their learning of the theory, although at present, this is not mandatory.
What happens to our students after they graduate?
Our most popular courses are the Bridal Makeup Courses - Our students report succesfully securing a large number of trials and bookings after attending the courses and it is always a thrill when they ring us to tell us they have just succesfully completed their first Wedding. The current record is held by Jennifer Viall who attended in the course in May 2007 and has secured 60 trials over the next few months. Some of our students are currently working in film - Fiona Burns, Ireland and Debbie Stinton, Wales. Other students go on to work in fashion and editorial.
