Course Overview
This brand new intensive course is designed for those interested in pursuing an intensive course in media make-up and hair which aims to introduce students to the realities of working as a professional media make-up artist within television and film. This course equips you with essential skills and competencies required for high definition productions whether television, film or photographic by combining airbrush and hairdressing skills. Models are provided for you to work on and all work is photographed for your portfolio.
Course Contents
Week 1 – Make-up Artistry
Day 1
- Introduction to cosmetics
- application of straight corrective make-up presenters male & female
Day 2
- Introduction to historical and fashion make-up techniques.
- Application of period and fashion make-up suitable for catwalks
Day 3
- Introduction to airbrush make-up.
- Use and application of airbrush make-up including tattoo and scar coverage, stencilling and fantasy work
Day 4
- Airbrush make-up fashion
- Avante garde make-up.
Week 2 - Hairstyling
Day 5. Blow Drying.
• Basic hair knowledge.
• Product knowledge
• Tools of the trade (brushes etc)
• Reasons for blow drying
• How to blow into different styles
Day 6. Curling techniques.
• Product knowledge
• Correct use, do’s and don'ts etc
• Directions
• Different reasons for using
Day 7 and 8. Styling and dressing Hair.
• Product, grips and clips
• Basic pony tails
• Basic pleats
• various up styles
Day 9. Straightener’s and tongs etc.
• Products
• Irons
• Fashion Looks
Day 10. Portfolio & Assessment Day.
• Full Hair & make over
• Location shoot
During the second week students will be required to make-up and style the models for complete looks. Course work
You will be required to undertake case studies in order to complete your Diploma in both hair and make-up
